HARM

REDUCTION

What is Harm Reduction?

Harm reduction is an evidence-based approach that’s critical to engaging with people who use drugs and equipping them with life-saving tools and information to create positive change in their lives and potentially save their lives. Harm reduction is a key pillar in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services'
Overdose Prevention Strategy.

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA

DO NO HARM

In the past year the number of overdose related deaths in Louisiana rose more rapidly than any other state. This spike is twice as high as the national average. Louisiana has the 4th highest rate of overdose-related deaths in the U.S. 100 loved ones’ lives were lost in 2021 in Calcasieu Parish alone, & over 100,000 in the U.S. pandemic isolation & trauma after repeated natural disasters in SWLA have spurred higher rates of drug use in the area. Louisiana has rising rates of Hepatitis C & HIV. It is up to us and in the spirit of our amazing community to band together to keep one another safe.
