“Healthcare Information” is a term that describes all the information acquired or generated about a client’s HIV or AIDS status during the provision services.
“Confidentiality” is a term that reflects a determination about whether, or to what extent information, including healthcare information, name or identity, and sexual preference, should be made public. This includes information that a person has been the subject of an HIV test or has HIV infection, or other information that could reasonably identify an individual as having one or more of these conditions, or a reasonable fear of being infected with the virus. (That a person had a prescription for AZT, a drug used exclusively to treat AIDS, would be such information). To say that information is confidential is to state that such information should remain non-public – that is, inaccessible to the public. Comprehensive Care Center of SW LA, (CCCSWLA) clients expect that information obtained while receiving services will be kept confidential by CCCSWLA representatives, employees, volunteers, agents, members, vendors, and members of the Board of Directors. Confidentiality is necessary to protect the privacy of the client and to preserve the interests of CCCSWLA.
“Terminating CCCSWLA’s relationship” may include termination as a member, vendor, prohibition against volunteering, removal from membership on the Board of Directors, and/or denial of access to CCCSWLA as a client.
